Rabat is famous for fish. We can show you amazingly reasonable little places. My favourite is a little place in Salé near the Taxistation for colective taxis from Rabat. Even old Rabatis come out here just for the fish.
You will find chicken places everywhere, but taste and quality differs. Of main importance is turnover: if there are many customers it means that the chicken is always freshly cooked.
My favourite is Magicoq in Rabat Hassan, that is, center of Rabat, some 20 minutes walk from the Main Trainstation.
If you have a car, go to "Arjat" on the way to the Autoroute to Fes.
If you don't have a car, the best bet is to go to a butchers who has a charcoal basin outside his shop. You first buy the meat, chops, liver, Keftah (ground meat) or whatever you like and then give it to the barbecue man. Tell him how you want it cooked, medium or well cooked ...
If that sounds too complicated, it is part of our Arabic courses. We go with you and show you how.
Most City bussus you will find near the Main Train Station, Bab el-Had or Bab Chellah. Most destinations cost 3,60 Dirhams.
They are normally white Mercedeses who go specific routes, leaving whenever they are full. The prices are fixed accourding to the route. Full means: two passengers on the passenger seat and four in the back. Again, most directions you will find at Bab Chellah, and the trip to Salé costs 4 Dirhams per seat. If you want the taxi to leave sooner or you want to be less squashed, you can pay for two seats (8 Dh), or how ever many seats are free.
We are happy to meet you and show you how.
